Who Am I?

Zack Wilkus
All Around Awesome Guy

About me

My name is Zack. I'm a home automation geek, I love the great outdoors, and I love my family.

Ever since I was little, I've always been fascinated by technology. My childhood was a mixture of playing outside and tinkering with old computer parts my father routinely stored in the garage. Ever since then, I've been pursuing my passion of technology and learning all that I can about computers, networks, automation, and systems design.

My career path started in the blueprinting business, duplicating and altering architectural, structural, HVAC, and electrical drawings for architects, engineers, and contractors. I studied at Digital Media Arts College in the field of Graphics and Media Design before stepping eagerly into IT networking support.

I spent a year and a half working in general IT helpdesk support before getting promoted to network monitoring consultant and certified trainer for the WhatsUp Gold Network Monitoring Suite by Ipswitch, Inc.

During this time, I provided network monitoring training and deployment consultation for many notable organizations including the US Navy, US Army, US Air Force, Raytheon, Boeing, SPAWAR, Lockheed Martin, NATO, Arbitron, Kodak, New York Court System, St. Petersburg Police Department, Fordham University, Cox Communication, and many more.

After three years of training high profile network operations centers in the techniques and best-practices of network monitoring, I decided to try something new (that didn't involve as many airplane rides, as a new father). In 2010, I received my first Control4 Automation Programmer Certification. From there. I fell in love with home automation and I knew I wanted to make it my career focus.

Fast-forward eight years, and I now live in Utah and work at the corporate headquarters for Control4. As a Technical Support Specialist, it's my job to assist Control4 dealers across the world with design, deployment, calibration, and troubleshooting of home automation systems.
